“It will come down to the three leading candidates — Nadler, Maloney, and Patel — in a primary that could send one, or two, of New York’s longest serving members of Congress into an early retirement.”
“A fourth candidate, Ashmi Sheth, a young former associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, is mounting a longshot bid, but did not qualify for the NY1/WNYC debate and ended the most recent financial disclosure period with just over $400 in the bank.”
Meet Suraj, Progressive Democrat for ny-12
Suraj is an attorney, organizer, and NYU lecturer who worked for President Obama.
When Suraj’s parents emigrated from India in the late 1960s in search of economic opportunity, three generations of their family lived in a one-bedroom apartment over the bodega they ran.
Suraj grew up bussing tables, filling vending machines, doing motel laundry, and helping out on construction sites. Together as a family, they lived the American Dream, something that's nearly far too difficult today.
In 2020, Suraj challenged Carolyn Maloney and came within 3 points of victory.
CHANGE IS ON THE BALLOT.
“This race is a 3-Way GENERATIONAL Battle for the future of our city, our party, Our country. And it’s a toss up.”
